RoverTym Spring lift on a 91 RR

I decided to do a large lift on the Range Rover.  I had been looking at lifts for some time, but nothing really caught my fancy.  Along came RoverTym with an complete lift system for Rangies and Discos, and I had to try it.  Since another club member was already using the front set of RoverTym springs I wanted to try, all I could get was the rear.  So I grabbed the rear firm springs and got to work!  here is what I did:

What I started with:

91RR with a sagging rear end, front ride height was fine but it was a little soft for when I install a winch bumper.

Ride heights measured at the wheelarches on the axle center were as follows:

Driver Rear 32 1/8"
Passenger Rear 31"
Driver Front 32 1/2"
Passenger Front 32 1/8"

The bottom of the rear hitch stood at 17" and the height of the front crossmember stood at 20 5/8".

What I installed:

RoverTym HD springs in the rear

Passenger Front
LR Yellow/White springs 225# 14.80"

Driver Front
LR Blue/Red springs 225# 15.31"

What the results were:

Driver Rear      35 1/8"
Passenger Rear   34 7/8"
Driver Front     33 7/8"
Passenger Front  33 5/8"

Axle Center to Wheel Arch

Driver Front        20"
Driver Rear         21"
Passenger Front  20"
Passenger Rear   20.5"

The bottom of the rear hitch stands at 22 1/8" and the height of the front cross member stands at 22 1/4".

Total lift on average is 5 1/8" at the rear and 1 7/8".at the front.  I will go to the RoverTym front springs when they become available to me.  This should give me another inch to inch and a half in the front.

The ride height as you can see is within 1.5" front to back and within 1/4" left to right.

Initial impressions:

The truck is stiffer to be sure, but not so stiff as to be punishing or harsh.  I have tested at everything from parking lot speeds to 79 mph, and the truck rides VERY well.  Better than stock.  There is no UJ vibration that I can tell and I didn't even have to re-aim the headlamps.  After a quick jaunt off-road, it’s clear that the front springs are MUCH harsher than the rears.  I am duly impressed with the ride of the RoverTym springs. I will try to give them a more thorough testing in the coming weeks.

Final thoughts:

The truck rides VERY well even loaded up.  I have ridden on everything from highways to crawling over logs and ridden empty and with over 600# of gear in the truck.  Handling has been smooth on and off the road.  The truck flexes well, and I can see no drawbacks to this lift.  The ride is clearly superior to the OME HD lift.

In an effort to have a look at real world articulation I set up a test with cement blocks to see how the system flexed.  It is incredibly balanced at the moment as the pictures will show.
