How to Indentify Your Discovery

The Discovery was launched in 1989 and is fitted with V8 petrol engine, 2.5 Tdi 200 & 300 series diesel engines, and a rarer 2.0 Mpi petrol engine. The Discovery comes in two different versions. A 3 door and 5 door model. The V8 model is also available with an automatic or manual gearbox .Auto gearboxes have been fitted into the other engine models but not by Land Rover Ltd. If you are disabled or would like an autobox conversion we can help. We have a local customer with no arms or legs who drives an ex Camel Trophy 110 model Land Rover fitted with an automatic gearbox.

How to Identify your Range Rover

The Range Rover was first introduced in 1970 and has had many modifications over the years . It is available in 3 & 5 Door versions with various V8 engines and Trim types . Later vehicles were fitted with a VM Turbo Diesel engine that was not designed by Land Rover Ltd . The new shape Range Rover introduced in 1995 is fitted with V8 petrol engines and the Tdi diesel engine that first fitted to the Discovery and is now found in the full Land Rover range of vehicles .

Rover V8 and Buick 215 Engine

The Rover V8 is an 8 cylinder 90 degree "V" configuration engine, the block is one piece cast aluminium with cast iron cylinder liners. It has a single centrally mounted camshaft which operates the valves via hydraulic tappets and pushrods.

The camshaft is chain driven from a cast iron, 5 main bearing crankshaft. The main bearing caps are cast iron and the crankshaft endfloat is determined by the center main bearing, which has an integral thrust bearing.

Diagnosing ABS Faults

Diagnosing ABS Faults is actually rather easy. Here is the basic procedure:
Tools
Small phillips screwdriver
Short peice of wire (6" or so if fine)

OBD-II Scan Codes
