The Rover V8 is an 8 cylinder 90 degree "V" configuration engine, the block is one piece cast aluminium with cast iron cylinder liners. It has a single centrally mounted camshaft which operates the valves via hydraulic tappets and pushrods.
The camshaft is chain driven from a cast iron, 5 main bearing crankshaft. The main bearing caps are cast iron and the crankshaft endfloat is determined by the center main bearing, which has an integral thrust bearing.
