How to Indentify Your Discovery

The Discovery was launched in 1989 and is fitted with V8 petrol engine, 2.5 Tdi 200 & 300 series diesel engines, and a rarer 2.0 Mpi petrol engine. The Discovery comes in two different versions. A 3 door and 5 door model. The V8 model is also available with an automatic or manual gearbox .Auto gearboxes have been fitted into the other engine models but not by Land Rover Ltd. If you are disabled or would like an autobox conversion we can help. We have a local customer with no arms or legs who drives an ex Camel Trophy 110 model Land Rover fitted with an automatic gearbox.

The engine Vehicle Identification Number Plate is riveted to the top of the front body panel under the bonnet. This plate carries the VIN (Chassis) number, Vehicle weight information and paint and trim colour codes. Unfortunatly it is very common for the paint and trim codes to have been left blank. The VIN number can also be found stamped into the front right-hand side of the chassis, just forward of the chassis.
